The direct payments service fee explained

What is the direct payments service fee?

When you subscribe to the Organizer Pro plan, you gain the ability to pay your contracted promoters directly. This means you handle the bank transfer or payment outside of Crowdstack, rather than using our managed payout service.

The direct payments service fee is a small charge applied by Crowdstack for recording these external settlements and maintaining the verified attendance data that underpins them.

How the fee is calculated

The fee is calculated as a percentage of the approved promoter supplier amount. This is the value of the invoice based on Crowdstack's verified attendance figures.

  • The default rate is 2.5%.
  • The fee is charged on the promoter's earnings only.
  • It is not calculated against a guest's table spend or any other revenue stream.

Because you are paying the promoter directly, Crowdstack does not send, hold, or guarantee these funds. We simply record the settlement evidence and apply the service fee to your workspace account.

Can the fee rate change?

The rate is set per workspace by Crowdstack. The default is 2.5%, and a different rate — including a full waiver — can be agreed for specific commercial arrangements. If you believe your workspace should be on a different rate, contact the Crowdstack team through the Help centre.

Managed vs. Direct payments

It is important to distinguish between the two ways you can pay promoters:

  1. Managed Payouts (Core & Pro): Crowdstack collects the campaign charge from you, validates the performance, and pays the promoter directly. This carries the standard managed-payout fee (typically 7.5%).
  2. Direct Payments (Pro only): You pay the promoter yourself. Crowdstack records the payment details you provide (such as date and reference) and charges the direct payments service fee (default 2.5%) on the approved amount.

Where to see the fees

You can view the breakdown of these fees in your workspace finance area. When you record an external payment, the system will display the applicable service fee based on your current configuration before you finalise the record.
